Studying in the Republic of Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus (the southern, internationally recognized part of the island) has become an attractive higher education destination for international students. It offers European-quality education, affordable tuition, and programs in English across public and private universities.

Language of Instruction

Recognition of Degrees
Degrees from accredited universities in the Republic of Cyprus are recognized across the EU and by many international credential agencies.
Be cautious: Institutions in the northern part of Cyprus (Turkish-occupied area) are not recognized by the Republic of Cyprus or by most international accreditation bodies.
Types of Accommodation
- Students can apply for internships or research positions after completing their studies.
- Graduates with job offers may apply for a work or residence permit.

Who needs a student visa?
Non-EU/EEA students must apply for a student visa before arriving.
Residence permit:
Once in Cyprus, students must apply for a temporary residence permit at the Migration Office.
Work rights:
International students may work up to 20 hours/week during term and full-time during holidays in approved sectors.
